Let's repeat history, let's just all goto the local stadium & watch a few people fight to the death. Give them swords & let some siberian tigers loose for fun. We'll all sit around together laughing & cheering while blood is being shed all over home plate while the ref stands close-by with his white rubber gloves because he can't touch someone else's blood because "it's not sanitary" -
Well, at least it's real, we arn't being spoon fed fake "entertainment" wrestling like the WWE that some people become so passionate about they think it's real. Really, which is more distasteful?
Lets also remember that this is just yet another contact sport where one man is pitted up against another, such as Football, Hockey, Soccer etc the UFC is mixed martial arts, so technique and skill is involved, not just random fighting.
Do you think the refs shouldn't wear gloves? I'm not sure why you would think that. If I was a ref i wouldn't want to touch someone else's blood either.
Hockey is a much more disciplined sport than the category you just put it in with football & soccer, football you try to just take the person out of the game, soccer you fake getting hurt as much as you possibly can.
Overall it's a shame to know that sports were meant for good thing involving organized competition which builds discipline & keeps the human body in working condition. Then shit gets taken out of hand. Refs need to wear rubber gloves because everytime they "goto work" just to watch brutality. I can't see how you can even put UFC & Hockey in the same category besides the 'contact' which is just aggressively taking a puck away, UFC is a "fight to kill" until they're stopped by the ref.
I don't even think there should be a ref, watch to see how much control they have of their own to know when to stop dropping a tomahawk fist onto someone's face with no expression as he's knocked out on the floor.
Tony, your idea sounds like a whole lot of fun, but I doubt it'll happen anytime soon... not without a whole lot of uproar about the morality of it all.. haha..
and about the rubber glove thing... Maybe the sanitary issue is blown a little out of proportion in society these days.. I think people are becoming a little TOO paranoid. With people like Howie Mandell with phobias of shaking hands... c'mon now... but blood, yeah, you never know if they have any disease that you could catch.. I wouldn't want to be the one in the doctor's office being told I've contracted HIV because I didn't wear those gloves...
but I digress... I love UFC because it's real.. two athletes fighting to see who comes out on top... no acting, no stories to tell, no showboating, etc. The mixed martial arts is cool, but to be honest I'd rather watch boxing. I like to see guys go toe-to-toe... I always find the matches so boring when they go to the ground, and all you see is two people hugging each other on the floor.
