i just recently had some dominos pizza at my friends place, and i was wondering what all of you think your best place to go for pizza. Is it one of the major chains like papa john's, pizza hut, or dominos? or a local place?
The best pizza I ever had was in NYC. It was this small place in Manhattan that we stopped by when we visited the UN building. Cheap authentic Italian style pizza served by authentic Mexicans. Someday I'll go back to NYC and explore more places, for now, I'm relegated to whatever I can find around Bozeman. Which are mostly big chains.
If you can find local, go local. Cause 9 times out of 10, it's just better all around. But don't take my word for it, just ask around wherever you are.
We have this pizza place here in New Zealand called Hell's Pizza and its the biggest Pizza chain in NZ!! Its got a "Hell" theme and the names of the pizzas include lust, sin, greed etc. Its a really cool place and not to mention great pizzas!!
Pittsburgh, PA is all about having an Italian pizza joint run my Turks and the workers are all locals. However, can't beat an $8.00 pizza with a liter of soda! So yea, I love local. There are tons more around here too. Little place on the South side run by some punkers has $3.00 slices but DAMN they are huge, great drunk food to boot. Cool stuff on them too, like pineapple, or wired pepperoni, or tofu.
From a chain, Papa John's or Dominos if I have to resort to that. Pizza hut doesn't even touch the radar, it sucks ever since they changed their sauce like 10 years ago.

This place nearby (don't know if it's a chain or local what do I know?) in Monterey called Pelican Pizza puts stuff like artichoke hearts and sun dried tomatoes in pizza. I don't know how many other places do this, but they do, so until I return to the NYC this'll have to do it for me in Cali.
If your into Chicago style, and happen to be near Chi-town. There's Gino's East, Lou Malnati's & Giordano's If you don't like deep dish, then Chicago ain't for you.

Cheeseboard in Berkeley. They only make one pie recipe a day, that's it. You either order a slice, or pie, but there's only one entry on the menu for the day. The pizza is so damn good though that they have lines out the front door and down the block on a regular.
