Aloha U 2. This is very slick! I hadn't heard of Ning. This is a great add-on to JetSet.

If you're looking for feedback, the only thing I would add is that as soon as I hit the site I was looking for an "About the Mix" link for an overview about what this is all about. But, that's my usual M.O. when I hit a site for the first time.

Other than that, this is very very cool!

This is a good idea. I've been wondering about how to properly integrate a forum environment with a videoblog. This may be the answer.

The problem with the way it is now is that people aren't prompted to return to permalinks they left comments on. It's easy to forget what you watched or where you left a comment unless you go around bookmarking everything you post. :/ In a forum environment, the discussion is the focal point, so people know exactly where to go to pick up where they left off or see if anything new's been posted to their conversation.

It's cool to have comments the regular way, but those create more "pat on the back" statements than actual discussions, IME.

Bill, that's a really good point. This is a grand experiment for us. So we're looking to solve a lot of the stuff you're talking about... We want to start having a conversation... And we would like to have an environment where everyone can get to know each other and feel that they can contribute to the show.

I wonder if you could maybe keep track of all the things you learn, and then do a show on it at some point down the road (I liked your 'retrospective' 50th episode, and I think it'd be neat if you did a retrospective later on too about how you've changed and grown through the process of creating the show)? Having a conversation is obviously important to you -- it's about communicating, it's about sharing our experiences, and maybe finding someone else who we can share the experiences of.

Some of us communicate better in text. Some of us communicate better in audio. Some of us communicate better in video. We all have our talents -- and I am glad that you're creating a place where these various styles can all join together and be useful and feel like they're contributing.

ning = pretty cool.

a few thoughts i have...

- could you transfer someones (membership) from a forum, etc something else with a username + password to ning for them? maybe that wouldn't be a cool thing to do, i dunno?

- anyway to embed this thing in the jetsetshow.com page? so you could have the home, episodes, subscribe, about, etc links up above there?

one bow, one hand wave.

Josh - I know. That would be a cool thing if we can transfer all of our contacts over to a new site in case the old one isn't working anymore. I dunno either. Maybe it would be weird. But maybe it can be done gradually and have the users know you want to transfer their info over so they can start migrating.

We'll have a link to this on JETSET soon. Just wanted to test it out before we did that. Make sure all the bugs are out... Well, most of them anyway. :)

Leslie - You have a good point about additional social network sites. This is a question we ask ourselves a lot. We figured we wanted some kind of community specifically for JETSET, where we can brainstorm ideas, etc. We're trying to figure out what the best way to communicate with everyone is - besides the comments section. Like if there is a topic that we would like to discuss further, maybe it can happen here...

Still a BIG experiment, We shall see. But THANKS so much for trying it out with us. <3
