Daniel china, the nazi germany of the 21st century.

I'm not sure how much you guys/girls know about what the Chinese people go through but its a load of shit really. China has the fourth largest economy and is growing at a rate never before seen in modern history(and possibly in human history) but still rural china lives in poverty and the people of the city live in fear of authority. I was once extremely anti-America for their involvements and support of overseas conflict but seeing what the Chinese government is capable of...i have become the b… Continue

LVS Handle With Care

Last night I went to the Art Gallery of South Australia for an amazing event called DepARTure. The program is made especially for people in their 20s and 30s to introduce them to art and culture in a creative and fun social setting. Personally I just get a kick out of being in the Art Gallery after hours and getting a chance to see a sneak peek of a new exhibition within the gallery. The free drinks and entertainment are just a bonus. Last nights event gave me an opportunity to see the 2008 Adel… Continue

Grendel Zadi's not pregnant, is Epic-Fu?

I'm trying to find a nugget of humor in the fact that's it's been over a month since we've had an episode. If my girlfriend told me it's been over a month since her last "episode", I'd be asking some serious questions. Can you see a nugget in there? Realistically, I don't think we should get our hopes up about the greatness of the next episode. Zadi and Steve have given us nothing but the best they can, every time. As wonderful, insightful and fun as it is, how can we expect anything more than… Continue

Leadpipe Iron Man

I'm already tired of hearing about GTAIV. I'm really not that big of a fan of the series. They're ok games, but it gets repetitive and overwhelming, and worst of all: The universe seems to have a boner for it. Much of my time online in the last week has been trying to find anyone talking about anything not related to GTAIV. It's like that guy at the party that won't stop talking about barbecue or his stamp collection. If you've spent any time online in the last week (and assuming you're… Continue

Lee Ortiz Computer Crashed, AGAIN!!!?!!?

Yep, once again I crashed my laptop and this is my fault because I left my computer open and uplugged and then when I was turning it on it frozed and lost the hard drive. I was really depressed that this had happen again and now have to start from scratch again. When my mom and I took to the apple store to get it fixed, we had to pay for it this time because my MacBook was no longer under warranty. We paid $300 to replace the hard drive. I now have it back going to start taking better care of it… Continue

Are Your Medical Records at Risk? Amid Spate of Security Lapses, Health-Care Industry Weighs Privacy Against Quality Care By SARAH RUBENSTEIN April 29, 2008; Page D1 When it comes to protecting the privacy of patients' computerized information, the main threat the health-care industry faces isn't from hackers, but from itself. In a spate of recent security lapses at hospitals, health insurers and the federal government, private information on hundreds of thousands of patients, ranging from Socia… Continue

Leadpipe Vengeance

To be honest, I'm kinda petty. I'll hold a grudge until it becomes too much work to do so. I've never gone so far as to revenge myself against someone, but the notion is interesting. Why do we feel a need to get even? I suppose it stems from the need to assert one's identity. Being victimized robs one of his power over himself, and it's not a terrific leap of logic to try to take that power back from the person who took it from you. I like vengeance movies. Park Chanwook has done a couple of r… Continue

Dale one China = no China

The quote below was pulled off the ABC news website earlier tonight (www.abc.net.au/news) The Olympics should be successful and will be successful," said a 26-year-old e-commerce student who identified himself only as Wang. He carried a huge Chinese flag and another was painted on his face. "One China and One Nation. The pro-Tibetan demonstrators are liars," Wang said. OK. So, first a few caveats: This is a part of a conversation I was having with someone here on mix. I'll not mention who here, in case they do not desire to be known (I see no reason for this, but I don't like to presume upon people). Secondly, if you're not into navel-gazing abstract theoretical blah blah blah, you should probably not read any further. Are you sure? Ok, you've been warned. Still with me? Good. Leadpipe An odd Happening

So, I guess this goes to show what a horrible person I can be, or how easily distracted, or perhaps you'll pull something else out of it. Friday nights have never meant much to me. I've been employed since I was 17, and for the first eight years of that, it was in the restaurant industry. I'd often be in school during this, so Friday night was often prime working hours. Now that I'm a normal 9-5 schlubb, I have my Friday nights free, and I'm not used to that. I usually find myself watching an o… Continue

Leadpipe American Politics

I'm going to come right out and say it: I really like Barak Obama. I think he's energizing and inspiring, and I think he'll make a great president. Forget that I said that for a moment. The culture of the United States has gone through a tremendous shift in the last twenty or so years. The business community has taken this on board and taken advantage of it. With our affluence, we've become increasingly individualistic. The products one buys reflect who he views himself to be. Ad campaigns no… Continue

Leadpipe Assassin's Creed (PC)

So, my room-mate picked up Assassin's Creed for the PC because he can and he did. I've had a little bit of a hand at it, and here's what I think: You've got to admit, the game is pretty, and having a pretty girl (Jade somethingorother, who was the producer of the game, I believe) doing much of the press for it wasn't a bad marketing strategy either. As a console game, it probably stands out. In the move to PC, much is lost in the translation. First, an odd thing happened the second time my ro… Continue

bon vivant The Human Abstract

"There are many who come to challenge us in life. Throughout youth, many peers who seem to be destroying with the harsh words they spit are really giving us the choice and opportunity to let ourselves be strengthened by experiences they are playing only a pawn’s role in. There are times in each of our lives, hopefully, when we are pushed beyond a comfortable limit. It is here that we learn to truly know ourselves, as we struggle to regain control against the fury our adversaries may inspire. I… Continue

Leadpipe Quitting smoking is kicking my ass

OK, let's start out with the obvious statement: Smoking is bad for you. It makes your breath smell, your bodily fluids taste bad, your clothes smell, your teeth yellow, but most importantly: your wallet thin. The price of cigarettes has been going up for some time now, since the one tax everyone is keen on is sticking it on a pack of cigarettes. Poor people to the rescue!
