JETSET Live Show!

Hey so we're throwing around the idea of doing our first live JETSET show. We covered five live streaming web sites in the most recent episode and thought it would be fun to have a live JETSET party of sorts!

What do you guys think? What kind of things would you like to talk about/discuss? We're open to ideas at this point. Let's throw some around. :)

hmm, just a thought....timezones.

I'm assuming you're on the west coast.....no matter what, you'd be missing out on some of your audience.

That's not to say I wouldn't watch the "episode" after it aired, but reaching the majority of viewers "live" is def. something to consider

You on the east coast, Jeph? What time do you think it should air?

Maybe have a poll of the best time.... I'm on the east coast....
I like the idea!

Yeah, at least as far as the USA is concerned, starting the show @ 5pm California time on a Saturday would make it 8pm New York time, and everyone interested would be able to check it out.

And that would make 2 am France time :D
I think i won't have the choice but to stay up all night whatever the time chosen.

do a live day.... make a show for every 4 hours... and then see how many ppl stay from one show to the next....

24hours of Jetset! To the meridian and all the way around! No sleep for anyone and everyone.... and different hours of the day could be different challenges... or scavenger hunts for facts or fictions. It would be great.... like a giant sleepover where nobody gets any sleep.

Who'll call in sick to work? Who will go and stream/watch from a public place? Who will try and be the part of the 1 hour broken telephone answering machine game? so many options.. so many ideas... it can be done. you can be the one.. there can be only one.... only one jetset... only one show... .12 hours times 2 times continuous... just like it should be.... on the internet.. in internet time.

i've had massive amounts of sugar so i'm sorta rambling.. but you take it.. make it... and do it like you do. jetset ways go! heavy and massive

I like this idea. At the very least, it could be a two-hour show every four hours. That would also deal with the issue of time zones outside of the USA.

Quick question/suggestion: Is it possible to bring in non-video members to a live show using Skype?

Reply to This

or for that matter.. is it possible to re-process skype video chat? It could be if you used on-screen video capture using camtasia and have it siphon that video source into another live "camera".

I think to do a good live show you're going to need some more software options and maybe even a hardware A-B switch or a full video mixer and someone to man it. Jetset is really cool for being concise and edited well. That's sort of impossible when live, but it wouldn't hurt to be able to do some real-time cuts.

You know if you're considering live you might as well go 24/7, you do know about http://www.justin.tv/ right? That is what they're trying to do after all, giving everyone and anyone the ability to plug in a camera and have their own channel.

You could just set aside a set time of the week you would do your show segment, you create a tag or tip pointing to the time in the archives. You wouldn't get to do much of the fast cut and shuffle editing but it would be cool so see something like Zadi.tv or Jetset.tv Maybe you should run both, your standard show and try this on the side. that way you could say "last week we went to make fair, check it out on Jetset.tv" and watch you roam around make fair.

Wow, what good timing! I'm messing around with live broadcasting myself.

I'm currently using uStream and it works pretty well, but I just found a free website that will accomplish what I want, and probably what your looking for too. I'm still waiting for my beta invite, but it looks awesome.

http://mogulus.com is a new startup who's aim is to create the experience of TV broadcasting on the internet.

The product seems to let you add your logo, text, and graphics on top of your live video and even cue up pre-recorded video from Mogulus and your desktop and transition into it all live! Add to this you can have multiple people online helping direct the video and even cut to other people from their webcams. You can also search YouTube and other sites without leaving the Mogulus studio and then bring them into your video or cue them up. This makes broadcasting much easier.

I also saw an example of the flash player they use on GroundReport and it looks like a TV, which is cool. It even has the whole green bars for volume and muting.

Add to this the fact you can go into auto-pilot and just setup a bunch of video to loop in the order you choose and you have yourself an Internet TV Channel!

Now I'm not affiliated with Mogulus at all, it's just 1am and I've been reading up on Mogulus and I'm totally excited for it! Come on beta invite, come to me!

I just got accepted into the Mogulus beta! It is everything I thought it would be and more!

If you'd like to see a test of what the flash player looks like I've got it on my new show page, I'm only linking to my site to show you what it looks like, http://tv.tniwwt.com

I'm currently running a marathon of one of my shows using my YouTube versions untl I can upload them from my computer. The broadcast quality seems pretty good for being a live internet broadcast.

Hope this helps, I can't wait until the JETSET Live!
