what do you want to do before you die?

This Tuesday we covered a very cool project called Before I Die I Want To. The two guys who created the site keep their polaroid cameras handy at all times and take portraits of people wherever they go.

It's a really great look into someone's personality -- and sometimes, their deepest, most truthful wishes.

I think before I die I want to get into a shark cage and go underwater to see those scary-ass fish up close and personal.

So how about you guys? What do you want to do before you die?

Permalink Reply by shitboy on September 4, 2008 at 3:40am: ...so after i wrote a huge, long, in-depth response detailing all of my life's dreams and aspirations and personal thoughts and feelings, repleat with jokes and parenthetical editorial comments, i tried to save it and suddenly time stopped. it said "saving" for a long time. so i hit stop, and back-paged, hoping to find my epic "what i want to do before i die" entry still in the comment box waiting to be added, only to discover seconds later that what had posted was the first two and a half sentences. before i die i would like to work on a computer that doesn't fuck me over at random, unpredictable intervals! i also want to learn to copy my comments as i'm writing so i don't have to write them over again, because this always happens to me! am i the only one? before i die i'd like to experience real mental telepathy, actual mind-reading shit. not mind control, because that would be wrong, just mind reading. well, maybe just a little mind control... it was something about writing a book, making movies, recording an album, pressing up doubles on vinyl, and then spinning it back to back, mixing and juggling the beat at a house party with all my family and friends. organizing a huge family reunion, including friends, and paying for everyone's trip so they have no excuse for not coming, getting rich while i still have my regular job so that right at the perfect moment when i get a really snotty, rude, or racist person on the phone, i can tell them to suck ass and kick rocks, exacting vengeance for all of my co-workers who have ever had to hold their toungues for fear of losing their jobs when a caller was in dire need of a royal cussing out, and most likely a good ass-kicking too. i went on to talk about rebuilding, or recovering, (mysterious circumstances surround it's "disappearance") my legendary in local b-boy circles record collection before i die, re-connecting with old friends, improving my relationships with my birthmom, gramma, uncle and cousin, and with my immediate adoptive family, my godmother (my aunt), and my cousin (best buds as kids), also something about establishing an organization/school/foundation/business that is a community resource and dedicated to social change locally and globally, getting mta to make the busses to run on time, and more often (obviously, by far, i think, the least likely to occur of any of the things i've listed so far). then i mentioned wanting to be a good father and husband, making my wife happy and helping her fulfill her dreams, raising our children to be happy, healthy, conscious, positive, and creative people, and finding out who my biological father is so i can teach my children their cultural history and where their ancestors came from, (and so i can know for myself), then i made a joke about wanting to have a mad, passionate affair with zadi, and then upon reflection remarked that having mad, passionate, extramarital affairs probably wasn't really in keeping with my stated goal of wanting to make my wife happy, then i asked steve not to ~virtually~ kick my ass or clown me on the next episode of "it's my show, too", and resigned myself to having my dope-ass music video premier on @shitwelike@. then i made fun of the zadi lovers and chastised them, bcuz "she got a man!" then advised them to leave their computers and get out in the streets where they might meet a nice girl, not zadi, perhaps, but someone nice to share epicFu with on those cold winter nights. i think my response/comment was much better the first time, but i think i remembered everything. now i just need to not die for around 30-40 years so i can get all this stuff done. now that i think about it, my goals seem pretty boring compared to swimming with sharks and flying to the moon, but being a good father and husband is probably the biggest challenge of all - everything else seems simple in comparison. before i die i do want to own or at least drive a 1983 porche 911 turbo, or one of the slightly later models, balls out '; ▶ Reply to This

Communications would have to be negotiated. Around the world in 80 days sort of stuff. I'd even grow a mustache and wear a top hat and waistcoat for desired effect. I dream of laughing maniacally while drifting away in a hot air balloon.
