the beauty of DIY for me, if the fact that you are getting s final product that you was made to fit your particular need. and most of the time you can be proud of it. Maybe not so much for the first try but the second and third always rock! Its hard to find the perfect thing for all your needs, since it only exists in your mind, that is till you DIY!

There are so many artistic/creative/crafty pursuits that has been lossed in society to mass production. I started being crafty as a bonding session with my Grandma. She makes wonderful pieces of art Tree Bark. After all of my early pursuits making art with Grandma its now spread to almost everything - fixing the roof, making tables, etc

I guess these days I love DIY as I get to be independent

I DIY because:
1) I have no money
2) I'm pretty good at following instructions
3) I tend to make stuff to give away and it seems more personal and more meaningful than a simple gift with a girt reciept.
4) I feel a little bit more down to earth :]

Hello I just joined and this is my first reply in this forum. I greet you all.

Doing it yourself, refering to creating own media, gets you out of the passive media consumer role. When we do more ourselves, our minds will be freed form the slavery of mainstream media. Becoming a counterweight to those who control the flow of information. Becoming an active part of the worldwide cultural heritage. We entertain ourselves and enrich our creativity between likeminded people.

I love DIY because it allows me to be more creative than any job could ever allow. It also has saved me 10s of thousands of dollars in contractor expenses at homes that I have owned, which always a good thing.

I find the design of a project and being able to build or implement that is awesome. I can be tired after a day of DIY, but I will always be happy.

I love to make things myself. I think a lot of mass market stuff stops halfway. If I could improve it myself, then I do. One day, I will figure out a sewing machine and start making and fixing stuff myself.
