You can try LiVES. it`s very easy to use. i used it on FreeBSD. you can download it from here : http://lives.sourceforge.net/ . if you need proof you will find there demos videos . i hope i`ve been helpful. laters

thanks Andrei. I am actually starting to play with this exact software. glad i'm on the right track. What kind of stuff are you editing? are you putting it online? what format?

i`m editing parts of a biger movie that i exported from 3d studio max. i`ve tried once using a linux 3d rendering program. it`s called blender. the interface is odd. ( try http://blender.org if you wanna try it ) . i don`t have anything posted online. sorry

thanks. we're building an open source project for videobloggers at showinabox.tv.
we're attempting to use all FOSS tools to create and post video.
Not easy.
Video support has a long way to go on linux.

We are slowing looking at understanding the Ogg so we can make it look and play better. We've just started looking at linux video editors.

I use Cinelerra almost 100% of the video I do. I suggest using the CVS build. [ http://cvs.cinelerra.org/ ] It seem much more stable than the Heroine Warrior build. A lot of people have told me that KDenlive is awesome, but I have yet to get my hands on it.

I do some videos on my website arthursucks.com. All of them are done is Cinelerra unless said otherwise.

The technique that's worked the best for me is:

1. Capture with dvgrab
2. Clean up DV with AviDeMux (Crapy camera.)
3. Edit with Cinelerra, make graphics with Gimp for videos. Render to uncompressed MOV
4. Encode MOV with AviDeMux or FFMPEG.
5. Upload if needed. :)

Seems to work good for me. Good luck.

I can't believe I didn't see this topic. I film a podcast every week and edit it all under linux. I use Kino for capture and basic editing and Kdenlive for more advanced stuff. Kdenlive has a long way to go, but it's looking far more promising than most other video editing apps I've used.
