Black people and scary movies

Now I know that it isnt just me and I also know that this aint nothin new but, why is it that 99% of the time the black person is always the first one to die? Whats up with that, I can only think of one movie where the black person didnt die first and that was 13 Ghosts and even though she didnt die when shit hit the fan and ghost were killin people, she disappeared and you didnt see her til the end of the movie. Can anyone think of another movie where this doesnt hold true??? To add on to this post and to make it a lil more interesting why do scary movies or any other types of movies in general have these ridiculous stereotypes?...thanks Zadi

Hmmm.. I am racking my brain... oh Will Smith - Independence Day ;)

But, yep seems like there's a pattern of:

the black person is the first to die
the asian guy never gets any action
the latino/a always has to say something in spanish
the blonde is always helpless

There are so many stereotypes... some more than others.

The question also is - why? It's a pretty good conversation to have. :)

actually i just thought of one: i think Ken Foree's character in Texas Chainsaw Massacre III survives the movie. i remember watching the end and being surprised that he wasn't killed and actually rooted for him, which is why i remembered (i tend to hate a lot of movies and root for the apocalypse)

did anyone notice that in transformes, the only black autobot (jazz) dies .. .

and you have to know jazz is down with the brown from how he acts, his voice and from what he says when optimus prime is introducing them .. .

but anyways, we need stereotypes, because what else would we bitch about? but personally, i have been touched by the dirty stinky finger of racism . .. haha .. .

i remember one time in i think 6th or 7th grade .. . i was dating this white girl, well, she didn't tell he father i was seeing her . .. so one day, i call her house, no answer so i leave a message.. . later on in the day she calls me back, tells me we have to break up .. . i of course, dumbfounded by the random decision, ask why .. . she tells me her daddy does not want her dating any hispanics .. . i just said wow (probably some other things that i can't remember) and hung up the phone .. . of course, this is seventh grade and by no means no romeo and juliet type of relationship, but nonetheless i was hurt .. . bewildered, just shocked as to how one person could hate another for no logical reason other than just the color of their skin .. . i had my good solid cry (i cried like a bitch) and decided to just say fuck it, why bother, i obviously am not missing a damn thing, so i should just let it go .. .

and now, that i'm 24 . . .i see all these talks, discussions, rallies and shit dealing with racism and what not .. . and i honestly, could care less .. . i mean, my reasoning for that being that it only affects you if you let it .. . i feel bad for the people it happens to, but alot of the time everything gets drowned out by these pseudo activists that jsut want to get on tv and rep their own cause (i'm talking to you sharpton and jackson) so i personally choose to not pay attention to all this shit .. . i laugh at it because to me it's funny how people let themselves get so easily bent out of shape .. .

but back to stereotypes.. . we need them.. . else, carlos mencia wouldn't have a career .. .

I know what you mean when I was in 9th grade I went over to my friends house and her dad was there and he was really nice and all, and because her house was closer to the school and we had to work on a project, I thought ok we are going to your house to work on it and she said no we can't, she said something, something, eventually, she came out and said her dad didn't like mexicans, so I couldn't go to her house. I was obvs. taken back, I mean she didn't feel the same way and she was really apologetic about it but you know it did sort of hurt.

Nowadays I really just don't even pay attention to it, because it really only affects you if you let it, I truly believe that, you will always have people that will hate you for one thing or another, that is never going to change.

and if there weren't other comedians he wouldn't have a career...

but yeah that's messed up what happenned to you, i hope 12 years has sorta changed the situation. for you, where daddies have less influence and people are more open..

anyway, in scream the first to die is drew barrymore.. but i don't remember a black person with a significant role in that movie...
i know what you did last summer.. also the same case as scream..

"why do scary movies or any other types of movies in general have these ridiculous stereotypes"

because that is what the white producers think white moviegoers think about minorities.

and by going to see shitty movies like that, we encourage them.

Going WAY back, I think "Alien" had a black guy that died late in the movie, but was still bested by S. Weaver.
