Who do you want to see run this country? Barak or Hilary?

In 2008 there will be a new leader, and new leader may be a black man or a woman. If a woman won the election or a black man won the election, it will change the course of the American history. Throughout history all the past Presidents was white, even the current President is (of course) white. In 2008 a new leader will take the throne of power and do some justice to the government.

By-the-way, how did George W. Bush do as President?

Hello Epic-fu and mix! This is my first comment on the mix boards, and I hope it is a welcome one.

I am not old enough to vote yet , but I would prefer Hillary to become president over Obama, not only because she is more experienced and has greater concern for the environment, but also because she would be an empowerig figure for women ( at least the cultured ones who acutually care to watch a presidential debate and use their own personal judgement to make the right choice, and not just choose the candidate with the best hair or nicest personality. Politics is a cruel cruel world, and most of the candidates with friendly personalities rely on them because they don't have the brains or experiece in public office *cough* Huckabee *cough*.

Did you guys see the newest add for Huckabee. Brilliant, because it hits the nail on the head as far as the conservative christian midwest base goes. No wonder Huckabee is leading in Iowa.

I'm on the fence about Ron Paul and Obama. Paul is revolutionary and I think that scares a lot of people. Obama is a smart dude with some good ideas. This should be an interesting election.

definitely do not want hilary, not because she's a woman, but because she's a clinton.. . if she got into office, it would be 20+ years of being run by the same families .. . and just because bill was 'alright' (even though he was bombing middle east countries) doesn't mean hilary is going to be a wonderful president .. . she just comes off so cold and calculating, not sincere or genuine at all .. .

barack on the other hand is a picture of change and not just because he's african american .. . but because he really does seem to want to change, fix the system that we have going on right now .. . not just continue with the same rhetoric that the current character uses .. . and who cares if he's too young, i'll experienced.. . wasn't kennedy ? and he got us to the fucking moon .. .

but me, myself am a edwards supporter .. . he just seems like the right 'fit' .. . i appreciate that he mostly stays out of the political hullabaloo and sticks to what he believes .. .

This is second time i've see the chain of bush, clinton, bush, clinton referenced. It is WAY different, Hilary isn't Bills son. The apple didn't fall far from the tree with baby Bush, but Hilary is just married to Bill. She made half the calls in office when she was firsat lady any ways(so some say, and I believe).

If people are really just voting for someone other that Hilary based on the "train" theory that is just dumb.

If you truly believe that these candidates could make a real difference, we need to wake up. The system is meant to help corporations and lobbies not the common person. Do not rely on CNN, FOX or any other news outlet to make your judgment. visit sites like opencongress.org, maplight.org, and others to see what these politicians truly stand for. Don't forget that anyone elected president will have to deal with congress to get anything passed.

Be informed!!

and the congress is so effective at deterring presidents .. . just ask bush .. .

Why does it have to be a choice between Hillary or Obama? For that matter why is it always Rebublicat or Democran. We have 500+ friggin cable channels but only two real political choices? Something is very wrong with our priorities...

And don't get me started on George W. Bitch.

In response to your comment, I have this to say:
You are absolutely right, to some degree at least.
Our party system is simple and fundamental. Because there isn't just one side to any issue, there can't be 1 party.
Each candididate has their own special mix of his or her personal beliefs that they have developed over their lifespan. Some of these beliefs are sincere, while others are based on A popular opinion that is shared by the people.
People who are strictly "liberal" or "conservative" are narrow-minded because they don't give any consideration or merit to the other sis of the issue.
Look at Rudy Guiliani for example- liberal about issues such as abortion, yet conservative on issues such as immigration.
Theoretically, we could put each candidate in their own party, since their set of beliefs are unique to them.
Unfortunatly, it doesn't work like that.
Our party system has developed into a sorting machine- considering a candidates politics, and sorting them into the category that represents their majority of beliefs.
In sumarry, voting strictly conservative or liberal just because your parents were of that party, or one party has a better reputation than the other party, is silly. A persons priority should be that they should look at every candidates personal record and match up their beliefs with the candidate that matchs theirs with yours.
Of course, in todays hustle-and-bustle world, who has the time to sit down and do that anyway ;).

Some people assume because I am African American that is why I am voting for Barack Obama. I am voting for him but for his platform for what he is running on especially his views on revamping public education in America because it is not competitive internationally. It is sad to see how public education used to prided and valued and now people look at it as a joke. Further, I appreciate Barack because he does not want to re-invent the wheel of great programs that former President Franklin D. Roosevelt instituted during his tenure which actually made FDR considered one of the best Presidents in US history. I have many reasons to vote for Barack. If he were not running, I would seriously consider Clinton but I feel as though Barack is a fresh face to the game. Great questions and responses here.
