Well, it'll sure be interesting to see what Yahoo is going to do. They haven't been so great lately, but as a result of this announcement, Yahoo shares opened 51.2% up! Wow! A Microsoft takeover of Yahoo may be a good thing, because it would give Google some much needed competition. On the other hand, it may be a bad thing because it would give a lot of power to Microsoft, and well, nobody really wants that...

We'll just have to wait and see how this is going to play out.

This Company that bought Hotmail, tries to migrate it to Windows, but it fails and then has to move it back.

BING -- "Who is Microsoft ?"

I pick "Please tell me this isn't really true" for $200 Alex !

This Company let the Hotmail domain expire and have to buy it back from some man who re-registered it.

BING -- "Who is Microsoft ?"

Okay, this game is BORING !

Google comes along and builds gMail -- which is still in beta BTW -- piles on Google documents, integrates with search and captures the market.

There is no Google Killer here - sorry !

Microsoft always shows up both late & proprietary -- they just don't get it.

You make a good point. Microsoft is like a big dinosaur and Yahoo is from the .com bubble era so they are very slow to react to new. I'm just saying that it's not good to have a company, even if it is Google, without any competition.

Okay Alex.

Whats not good ? Google - whos motto is "Do No Evil." is large and in charge and no pissing off the EU. Look no further than OOXML to see how bad we need Microsoft to become something much less important. If I have to choose which one, I will pick Google everytime. Google Books - another fine example of helping students.

Google needs more projects. Yep, I am a fan.

I too prefer Google, I don't pay any attention to the advertisements and that is why microsoft wants yahoo for the advertising power.
I like gmail but my hotmail address is so intertwined now it would be hard to get rid of it.
True Google does need more projects, am interested to see how android develops.

Basic concept is 'here is a small project that you can work on via the internet and get paid for"

Wow. I switched from Windows to Ubuntu this year, now I gotta change again. I'm on AT&T DSL which uses Yahoo as a default for it's service. I try to get out but they keep pulling me back in!

i never really used any yahoo service so thats probably why im not all that excited
dont they (yahoo) have got this IM messenger? well that'll go out the window and both their search engines will be migrated
