Body Art - How Far is Too Far?

On this week's JETSET, we profile a set of twins who have taken their desire to change their bodies to dangerous levels. They have actually exchanged body parts. Whoa. Here's a link to more info if you want to read. Be warned that there are some *extremely* graphic photos on that link.

The question I wonder about is what is really behind their motivation to do this. They say they have a bond no one else can understand, but does that mean they are artists, or just extreme example of changing body image?

I don't know where to begin on this one...

people just wana do what they wana do. i think that there never really are limits only the ones in your mind that you choose never to cross.

This is true. Everyone has a limit. Sometimes those limits don't make sense to those who have no limits - and vice versa.

Most of our limits are self-imposed limits... I guess the question is what is the reasoning behind your limit...

For me -- and the body modding, well -- all I can think of is that I'm happy with where my limbs are. I have other things I would like to spend my time on. :)

They removed each others finger for marriage - i've often wondered why people would remove any part of their body. But in the world of the internet, if you can think it, it's been done and documented by somebody. I'm not making fun of what they did... and in a strange way I can understand and respect the special bond that this experience would create. That being said... i would never do it.

If you want to step into the world of the strange i wouldn't suggest looking into men who become eunuchs. SCARY SCARY STUFF

I know I am unhip, square and all of that but I don't like ANY tats whatsoever...Growing up the only people who had tattoos were the people that beat the crap out of me so maybe that is why I don't like them.

Exchanging of body parts? Whoa...I hope it is just something done with a graphics package and not real.

Oh, I have a lot of friends who make fun of me all the time because of my dislike of tattoos, piercings, etc. And I make fun of them for their obsession with it....so it all works out well.

It's all about taste. I think most of us have done things that other people wouldn't do, I think it's cool as long as it only involves yourself.
