Energy Drinks

What's with all the hype nowadays with energy drinks? Lot's of my friends drink it all the time now in school. We even have a few kids selling them at my high school. And the price on them is outrageous, or at least compared to a good old Amazon. I see some sell it for 2.50/can.

I've also heard they can be dangerous from all the caffeine and whatnot. I had a friend who drank two without eating any breakfast one day. By second period she felt like she had stomach flu, although it's probably just because she didn't eat anything.

So what's in this stuff? Do you guys/girls drink them? Share your opinions on energy drinks. Also, I read an article saying Europe has restrictions on the drinks. Should the US implement similar laws?

Anyways I have never had any problems with energy drinks and considering I'm hyper-active I guess it can't be all that bad, if you drink it with caution, like not 30 cans a day.; ▶ Reply to This

I stick to the diet kinds not only because regular gives it the same nutritional attributes as soda - but also because it accentuates the crash.

I am officially banning red bull in my life. Honestly I always thought the energy drinks were a bit too much.

My ex used to always drink monster. Then she got addicted and had to quit drinking it because she was starting to twitch a lot...weird.

Come on, honestly?

It's not even that strong!
One can buy bottles of energy drinks similar to Red Bull in many supermarkets here in the UK. To take an example, Tesco's own-brand energy drink contains virtually the same stuff and can be bought in 1L bottles, I've drunk a whole bottle before sometimes more with no ill effects.

Mixing it with depressants like vodka isn't that smart, done it before though, no real problems there.

An old friend of mine drank a six pack of Red Bull with no ill effects (sure, he was a bit wired, but he was just fine!). Admittedly he's dead now but from a car accident, rather than Red Bull!; ▶ Reply to This

It has caffeine, but that caffeine is released slowly-creating a longer lasting, less intense "boost." Plus it's dirt cheap compared to energy drinks. You can buy tins and brew your own and make your own syrups (if you like iced tea) or add your own sugar (if you like hot tea), or you can buy pre-brewed green tea which is still alot cheaper than energy drinks.; ▶ Reply to This
